6 Facts About Breakups

Reducing Conflict Diamonds

Did you know that more than 99% of diamonds are now conflict free?

In 2004 the Kimberley Process cited that 99.8% of the worlds mined diamonds are certified as conflict free diamonds.

We often get questions at the diamond lining about conflict diamonds, so we wanted to let you know some pertinent stats. The Kimberley process certification imposes requirements on its members to ensure that they certify shipments of rough diamonds as conflict free. That means that none of the proceeds from the sale of these diamonds aids conflict in Africa.

For more information on the Kimberley process please visit the following website http://www.kimberleyprocess.com.

Started in May 2000, The Kimberley process now has 49 members representing 75 countries and several governing bodies. The process offers a way to ensure the proceeds from the sale of diamonds remain conflict free. In 2006 review of the Kimberley process verified the effectiveness of the efforts, and offered several actions to enhance the system to ensure transparency and effectiveness.

The Kimberley Process offers consumers, and those of us in the diamond business piece of mind knowing that rough minded diamonds are moral and do not aid conflict.  It is great to know that the beautiful stones that bring so much joy around the world are moral and sustainable.

Happy New Year

I’m sure we are not the only blog wishing our readers a happy new year, but that doesn’t make it any less meaningful.

In 2011 we were able to help thousands of people, and for that we are grateful. Our goal, our business, and our reason for being is to help people sell their diamonds and jewelry for the most money possible. Every time we are able to accomplish that goal, we are proud and grateful for the opportunity.

Thank you to all of the people who let us help you in 2012, we wish you a happy and a healthy New Year.

Taj Mahal Diamond

In mid December a rare and particularly noteworthy Diamond went up for auction at Christie’s. although it was part of the estate of the late Elizabeth Taylor, the heart shaped stone dates back to the early 1600′s and was given to Shah Jahan, who commissioned the Taj Mahal. The table cut diamond, now set in a pendant, was expected to sell for about $400,000, but ended up be sold for $8.8 Million.

Granted the diamond has an interesting and celebrity entwined history, but here at The Diamond Lining we take it as a signal that the price of diamond is increasing…

Elizabeth Taylor’s Jewelry – The Auction

“This is without a doubt the greatest private collection of jewellery ever assembled in one place,” -Marc Porter, President of Christie’s Americas.

Perhaps a little hyperbole here from the auction house, but we have been following the sale of Elizabeth Taylor’s Jewels, and her collection was nothing short of amazing. Seems that she was a modern day conquistador, with a taste for gold, diamonds, amethyst, and pretty much everything else that sparkles.

When the auction was over, it had grossed roughly $115 million. That is over double the previous worlds record of $50 Million from the Duchess of Windsor’s 1987 collection auction.

From reports that we have read, one of the most interesting things about the auction (aside from the prices) was the breath of the collection, and the overview of trends and tastes that it covered. Seem that if you acquire enough jewelry, and are at it for long enough, posterity will remember you well.

Yelp!

We don’t want to toot our own horn, but we are pretty pleased with the feedback we have been receiving from happy customers on Yelp recently. We pride ourselves on our customer service, so it is just wonderful to know that people appreciate the service we provide and the manner in which we provide it.

RecycledBride.com – A Great Site

Just in case you aren’t familiar with the site RecycledBride.com, it is a wonderful site that allows consumers to buy and sell used wedding items.

As the Worlds Largest Wedding Marketplace the site has a lot of items for sale, from brides dresses and shoes to veils and table settings. There is even a MOB section (mother of the bride), and a Grooms section. This site is a great way to help keep costs down, gather ideas for a wedding, and a wonderful way to dispose of some of your no longer needed items from a recent wedding. As the name hints at, recycling a dress, tux, or other wedding related decorations is a great way to recycle and keep otherwise perfectly good items out of the landfill that is a closet or storage unit.

The best part of the site is the great diversity of the items that have available. Rather than focusing solely on wedding dresses, they have really embraced the entire wedding for both for clothing, accessories, and decorations, which is great for soon to be brides and grooms, and their pocket books!

Check out their site, and make sure you visit their blog, which is regularly updated with great articles.

Sell a Diamond Ring in the UK

We get quite a few emails and questions regarding the availability of our service in the UK.
We are pleased to let you know that:
WE DO BUY DIAMONDS FROM CONSUMERS IN THE UK.

We are more than happy to evaluate your diamond and make you an offer for your ring if you are a UK resident.
Obviously, shipping times and currency conversion makes the process slightly more complicated than when people located in the USA sell us their diamonds, but we are more than able to handle these issues and help you sell your ring. The best way to proceed if you are living in the UK is to enter your information into the Ring Sellers Form just like normal. We will contact you with an offer and we can go over what to expect from the process at that time.

Testimonials and Reviews In The News

We at The Diamond Lining are very proud of the service we provide to our customers, and it’s always nice to get a thank you from them, but the best compliment that we can get, just like any business, is a referral or a positive review.

To that end we have thought about launching a testimonials page, and we still might, but our goal is to get as many potential customers to find our website as possible when they are looking to sell their wedding ring. That meas that reviews on a third party site is exactly what we are looking for. We wanted to thank the customers that have recently review our service and sung our praise.
