Striking It Rich, One Diamond At A Time

If there’s one thing that the recession hasn’t done, it’s squelch any desire that people have to try new money-making hobbies. Whether it’s selling off old antiques to pawn shops, buying storage units to hopefully turn a profit or going back to a tried and true method of mining for riches, people are more motivated than ever to make money. One such trend that is taking off, especially in America, is diamond mining. The lure of finding these precious stones and making a pretty penny quickly started gaining ground, especially after shows like Diamond Divers debuted, showing America that diamond mining wasn’t necessarily something reserved for the professionals.

Once people saw that their was money to be made, even if the odds were stacked against them, a passion was born. Murfreesboro, Arkansas is a hot spot for people interested in breaking into the Diamond and a Pennydiamond industry, largely because it is the only place in the world that is open to the public for finding diamonds, and because you get to keep what you find. What was once a profession has turned into a get-rich-quick vacation for families instead, and Arkansas has capitalized on this by providing campgrounds and a water park to accommodate anyone and everyone interested in potentially laying their hands on a precious stone or two.

While there are no guarantees that you’ll end up finding, quite literally, a diamond in the rough, or that you’ll dig up nothing more than a few shiny stones, the mere potential of finding thousands of dollars encased in one small stone is enough to pique people’s interest and motivate them to travel around the United States to try their hand at mining. After all, this small hobby could result in big rewards.
