In mid December a rare and particularly noteworthy Diamond went up for auction at Christie’s. although it was part of the estate of the late Elizabeth Taylor, the heart shaped stone dates back to the early 1600’s and was given to Shah Jahan, who commissioned the Taj Mahal. The table cut diamond, now set in a pendant, was expected to sell for about $400,000, but ended up be sold for $8.8 Million.
